Pres aide denies calls to limit Internet in Russia like in China
MOSCOW, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- German Klimenko, presidential aide for Internet issues, has not suggested using a Chinese model of Web regulation in Russia, but spoken about foreign experience at a lecture, he told PRIME late Thursday.
“The Chinese experience is very interesting, but there are various options. It’s not only about China. I don’t understand why it was inferred that I was calling for its closure,” Klimenko said.
He said during the lecture that the only opportunity to ensure information security is to limit the Internet, like in China.
A spokesperson for the Internet Development Institute, whose council is chaired by Klimenko, also said that the official had not proposed to limit the Internet in the country.
